For Immediate Release:
(Bay Head, NJ – 2015) – The Borough of Bay Head has been selected to participate in the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Office of Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs Local Technical Assistance Program. The purpose of this program is to foster the development of active transportation by providing technical planning assistance and professional services to municipalities.
Bay Head’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan will comprehensively identify opportunities to create, enhance, and expand walking and bicycling facilities throughout the borough. The plan will advance Bay Head’s vision of an active friendly community and define a bicycle and pedestrian network, linking together key destinations that will encourage more people – of all ages and abilities – to choose healthy transportation.
As part of the comprehensive approach, the plan will outline recommendations for the borough to implement strategies and to create safe streets that are comfortable and efficient for people walking and bicycling.
The Borough of Bay Head’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan is expected to be developed during the spring and summer and be completed by October 2015. The public will be continuously engaged during this project through the involvement of a project Steering Committee and outreach efforts including a public visioning workshop and a public open house.
